At the movies

Went to see the Jean-Paul Salome movie “Female Agents” earlier in the week. Action packed with great production values I was willing to overlook the fact that the plot was sometimes shaky and the characters a little too glamorous in time of war. They were French afterall so I wasn’t put off by the lipstick, sexy knickers and silk stockings. I liked it because it was a movie that stayed with me for some days not the least because it pointed out that Paris had a great Metro system in 1944 whilst here in 2008 Sydney still hasn’t got an integrated public transport ticketing system! Funny how a couple of hours in a darkened theatre can affect your thought processes.

Still, this does present the opportunity for a list and lists are supposed to be a popular blogging tool when you can’t think of anything meanful to write about in a meaningful way. In recent times the movies that have stayed with me long after I left the choc-top wrapper behind include:

  1. Crash
  2. The Counterfeiters
  3. Lars and the Real Girl
  4. Michael Clayton
  5. The Sixth Sense

I’d like to add “An Inconvenient Truth” but I’d be lying because I haven’t actually seen it but know that I should. Still I do plan to catch “Garbage Warrior” to assuage my environmental credentials. Margaret and David gave it the thumbs up and there’s nothing I like better than seeing the underdogs triumph against the odds. Sounds a lot like “Female Agents”.
